Hey beauties! I’ve realized my beauty and hair posts get most of my traffic (check the sidebar —–> for my MOST POPULAR posts), so I’ve decided to serve up more beauty related material.

Natural hair is tough to maintain! A lot of people have been going natural lately, including moi, so I thought it was best to scout for some SERIOUSLY HOT naturalistas on the web and ask them what they did to maintain their nappy locks.

Not everything may work for everyone. But sometimes it’s just good to know what others are doing, how they are doing and what’s working for them. Get ready to be blown away by this segment. I’ve got a whole list of naturalistas lined up. If you’re on a natural journey yourself and would like to share your growth and tips please email artbecomesyou@yahoo.com.NOTE: This feature is NOT bloggers or vloggers only. ANYone who is a naturalista is welcome to share. Let’s crack on.

We’re kicking off ABY Naturalista with the fierce Brittney. I asked her  a few fun questions and here’s what she had to say:

A lil intro…My name is Brittney aka Naptural Elenore! Im from Cleveland, Ohio. I love all things beauty. I make regular youtube videos and post makeup and hair looks on instagram.

Your roots… I’m African American and European

What was your hair like before you went natural? Before I went natural my hair was relaxed.

Why did you decide to go natural? I actually decided to go natural by accident. I was wearing wigs due to hair damage and I eventually got a lot of “new growth” from not relaxing my hair for so long. I was motivated to Big Chop after watching other youtubers.

Did you big chop (BC) or transition? I transitioned for 6 months and then Big Chopped.

How long have you been natural? I’ve been natural for one year and eight months.

Straightened natural hair

What’s your regimen? On wash day, I use an apple cider vinegar treatment for my scalp, pre-poo with coconut oil, co-wash, deep condition and then style my hair.

Do you protective style or go with the flow? The only protective style that I do is when I twist my hair for bed and put on my satin bonnet. If Im not going anywhere the next day then my hair remains in twists.

Your go to style…Two strand twists  🙂

Any styling tips?  Always protect your hair when you go to sleep to prevent breakage. Also, since our hair is naturally dry, moisturizing it daily gives hair elasticity. Remember to seal in the moisture with a butter or oil.

Have you ever been tempted to relax? Nope!

Favourite products…Conditioner! Whenever I go to the store I’m always putting conditioner in my cart! Lately I’ve been really liking Tresemme Naturals and Eden Body Works deep conditioner.

Your hair is as fierce as your makeup Brittney. You look fantastic!

What questions would you like me to include in my questionnaire?

Have a fashionably fabulous weekend.

TGIF!

I’ve been on a blog hiatus, but that didn’t all go to waste! I’ve spent time putting together a lot of hot collabos and new fun posts for you all. Stay tuned for them please.

To enter this weekend with style, let’s take a look at the fabulous Louisa of La Passion Voutee‘s Style Diary:

ABY: A little intro…

My name is Louisa Moje, a shortened version of my last name that I use on my blog. I was born and raised in Nigeria and spent most of my teenage years in Edo state where I attended an all-girls catholic school.Being the last of 7 girls and having a twin sister who was crazy about fashion, I quickly picked up an interest in fashion. My blog focuses on simple, chic and affordable clothing.

ABY: Oh you’re a twin! Fun. What are your dressing styles and what influences your style choices? My dressing style is classy, chic and minimal. Let’s face it, not everyone has the time to get ‘dolled up” before heading out to work/school every morning. This approach allows me to look nice without spending too much time on my appearance. Living in a fast-paced environment, my style is certainly influenced by time, my mood, the weather, current trends, and of course my siblings.

ABY: Which brands or designers ‘speak to you’ the most?

I love brand name products but I do not let names influence my style or purchase decisions. I choose to let quality, uniqueness and affordability rule my decisions. Brands I really like are Report Signature, Steve Madden, Zara and more recently, Charles Jourdan. I currently have my eyes on some of Schutz collection.

ABY: Oh, I love Schutz too! What do you splurge on? Shoes, shoes, and shoes! And infrequently on purses. A large portion of my clothing budget goes towards my shoe collection. My shopping budget far exceeds my feeding budget; I’ll hate to think that I’m starving myself!

ABY: Your skin always look great by the way, any beauty secrets?

I don’t really have any beauty secret. When it comes to my makeup routine, I use very little of a few things. I use compressed powder, lipgloss/lipstick, eye liner and mascara (on occasions, I use eye shadow). I try to keep it to a minimum because I want people to recognize me even when I’m without makeup. I’m also just concluding pharmacy school and visit with ill patients on a daily basis and I’m sure they don’t mind how I look .

ABY: Congrats on your degree hun. Have you got any make-up brands you love?

I use what works for me. I have oily skin and tend to try out different brands. Right now I use MAC, Maybelline, and Laura Mercier.

ABY: What is your favourite Fashion Magazine?

I hate/love to admit that I don’t read fashion magazine because I get my daily dose of fashion & style from surfing the internet. Why spend the $ on a magazine when you can get quite the same information from other fashion bloggers?

ABY: I have to admit you’re right. But sometimes I just can’t resist a glossy mag 🙂 What fragrance are you loving at the moment?

I love and use Coco Mademoiselle. It’s feminine and subtle. Perfect for work and social events.

ABY: Very tasteful. You can’t go wrong with Chanel. Heels, wedge, pumps or flats?

Definitely heels or pumps  🙂 Usually from Report Signature, Zara, Shoe Dazzle, Charles Jourdan

Flats – Zara, Coach, Chinese Laundry,

ABY: Your favourite music tracks right now.

I enjoy listening to a lot of Nigerian music through Gidi Lounge and my favorite track at the moment is Aye by Davido and Eminado by Tiwa Savage. I’m also in love with Ellie Goudling’s Burn.

ABY: What trends are you loving currently?

Easy one – Wiggle dresses and full midi skirts have been on replay in my closet and on the blog. Check out my “Lookbook” on the blog and you’ll see why I said so.

ABY: I’m gonna need a midi skirt or two myself. What are your ultimate fashion no-nos?

Harem pants – They just don’t look good on my body.

giphy

ABY: Uh uh, hunnay, MC Hammer gonna stay mad at you for that! LOL.

Hahaha! I also hate when someone is nicely dressed at a party but missing those pair of stilettos she had on half an hour ago. Not classy! Have a pair of flats handy or bear the pain (after all, no pain, no gain).

ABY: If your life was a movie, what would be its title and who would play you?

Tough question! I’ll have to think about this question for a bit. It’ll maybe be titled, “Life, through her eyes”. The best person to tell my story will be me and my twin sister so it’ll be played by both of us.

ABY: Your top 5 wardrobe must-haves are:

-Midi dresses

-pointy-toe pumps

-a classic clutch

-a nice purse

ABY: Your house is in flames, what one item would you save out of your closet and why?

Forget the clothes! If I was alone, I’ll grab my passport (and pet if I had one) and sprint out the door. My closet is replaceable but lives are not.

ABY: Your all time fashion icons are…

Halle Berry and Beyonce. Totally love their style.

ABY: Your favourite quote

Fashion Quote – “Fashion is what you make it; your personal style or just another trend.” ~ Louisa Moje

Life Quote – “Aim for the moon and even if you miss, you’ll land among stars.”

ABY: Nice! Your social media links where we can get updates on all about you.

Hey! Hope you all had a lovely EASTER!

Hot Looks this week:

Even though the Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion took a turn for the worse when Porsha Williams physically attacked Kenya Moore and got fired from the show; they ladies all looked drop dead gorgeous on air.

Porsha Williams looked flawless in a Ralph & Russo Couture gown. Kenya Moore opted for a £4,000 J.Mendel Red Strapless gown.

Watch the video that made the show’s ratings to soar to the top spot:

White is undeniably this season’s hottest colour. To whit, Rihanna looked chic while doing her shopping rounds around Los Angeles. Distressed denim short shorts paired with nudist sandals and a shirt were on call for the Bad gal.

She later changed into thigh high red pointed booties. She gets away with almost anything. HOT!

Like most people this Spring, Brandy has been sporting some natural-inspired curls. She went for a Fendi ensemble to complement her fun natural look. Pretty! Love the shoes too.

Nicki Minaj is falling in love with her natural looks! She looked beautiful at the after party of her the new movie ‘The Other Woman’ which she stars in. She wore a Jean Paul Gaultier dress and kept her hair and makeup super simple.

To the red carpet première she wore a nude cream Alexander McQueen bodycon maxi dress.

Kat Graham attended the 5th Annual Elle Women in Music Concert Celebration in a bold button-front shirt, high-waist print pencil skirt with a slit and pink Brian Atwood pumps. She’s usually a strong hit for me. Beautiful.

Zendaya Coleman was also in attendance.A white fedora topped off her plaid suit. This puts the fun in fashion but I wouldn’t rock it though. Points to her for keeping it interesting.

Selita Ebanks looked smoking in a chic beaded and sequined Alon Livné Fall/Winter 2014 dress as she worked the red carpet for New Yorker’s For Children’s 11th Anniversary A Fool’s Fete Spring Dance.

Porsha Williams stunned in Balmain on a night out. The Real Housewives Of Atlanta star was spotted clubbing with friends in this ice blue mini bodycon dress by BalmainHOT!

Aluna Francis also graced the Elle Women in Music red carpet. She opted for the colour of the moment; a white dress, which she paired with hot blue ankle boots and bright lips. I like:)

Rumer Willis was in tow in black cut out skirt and crop top. She looked alright until she turned to her side. Hunnay, if we can almost see your hoohah, it’s a miss.

Angel Haze was just being her good ol’ badass self in all black everything on the carpet. WERK!

Kelis looked fierce as she posed before taking over the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ with her performance. Love this look!

Who was your favourite?

stay tuned for more sightings.

Alexandra Burke looked glam as she worked the red carpet at the at the 2014 Laurence Olivier Awards in London. The former X-Factor winner offset a fringed high bun with a white sequin embellished floor-length gown. Her expertly beat face featured hot red lips. I must say Alexander looked stunning.

How beautiful was this?

It was a glam carpet. See who else made heads turn:

Natalie Gumede

Myleene Klass

Lizzie Cundy

Hayley Atwell

Samantha Barks

Tom Hiddleston

Olivia Grant

This was one FINE carpet.

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet looked F.A.B! Almost everyone brought it. Let’s get into the hot looks of the evening.

Rihanna looked smouldering in a sheer floor-length white robe thrown over a couture bustier body one piece suit all by Ulyana Sergeenko. Well, she’s been said to look good in anything…

Ellie Goulding

Iggy Azalea indulged in a head-to-toe John Galliano look. Love everything but the shoes.

Chrissy Teigen  looked flirty in a blush Ulyana Sergeenko dress, Christian Louboutin metallic shoes, and Shylee Rose jewels.

Jessica Alba was one of my favourites of the evening in a strapless bandeau top, high-waist flare skirt, and printed pumps.

Rocsi Diaz looked pretty in all white.

Nicki Minaj is loving her new toned down self. And we do too! She looked pretty in an Alexander McQueen slip black gown and winged eye makeup. Pretty!

Rita Ora looked one of her best in a black deep v-neck Barbara Casasola gown and her signature red lips. Gorge.

Lupita Nyong’o continues to slay. This time in a multicoloured Chanel dress and Casadei turquoise pumps. She spiced up her teenie weenie fro with some added curls. Nice!

Kat Graham looked amazing in Roberto Cavalli. I’m all about that orange spring lipstick. Hot!

The gorgeous Zendaya Coleman worked the carpet in a yellow and black printed Ungaro dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and tossed honey wavy hair.

Bella Thorne went trendy in a pale blue Versace dress and Jimmy Choo metallic sandals.

Holland Roden looked hot in a nude leather dress and hot pink Brian Atwood pumps.

A pretty Victoria Justice worked a lavender lace bustier dress and matching lips. I love this colour:)

A few years ago, Cameroonians had to rely on word of mouth and personal testimonies and recommendations to find out all about the latest trends and happening spots. Google Maps is usually useful for finding out information about cities like where the best eateries, clubs, salons, hotels etc can be found when we’re visiting. But unfortunately, for Cameroon; like for most African countries, there is the absence of detailed information about how to get around the heart of the town centre while visiting.

This is where Wasamundi comes in…

What it is

Wasamundi is a software and internet company that operates an online urban guide that provides information about businesses and places in the categories of restaurants, accommodation, entertainment, health, retail, travel, professional services and more in cities throughout Cameroon.
Visitors to each of Wasamundi’s city guide will find contact information, business details, location description, photos and user reviews for the businesses and places listed. Users can also contact businesses directlly through the platform via sms.

Headquartered in Buea, Wasamundi was founded by two University of Buea Physics graduates Njie Litumbe Nara and Quincy Kwende in 2011.

Finding a place to rent in Cameroon is always very difficult, expensive and slow. Usually not because there are no vacancies but rather the unavailability of information on time. We set out to change that by launching a fast, cheap and reliable service that can enable users search by price, location, distance form road or school, neighborhood etc. either by web or mobile site or by SMS.

Wasamundi

How it started

The company’s website www.wasamundi.com began as a search service for finding information about vacant student rooms and local businesses and places around town and then later introduced direct messaging features, user reviews, and mobile applications. Wasamundi
has extended its services to over 5 regions in Cameroon including the Centre (Yaounde), Littoral (Douala), South West (Buea, Limbe), North West (Bamenda), and North (Maroua.)

Intelligent-search-algorithm

Other services

Wasamundi also operates a bulk SMS service; wasatexto.comwhich allows people to send bulk sms as from 10frs per sms. Business owners can simply sign into their accounts and start sending SMS campaigns to their customer contact lists. Individuals can also use it for their peer to peer communication.

Another brain child of Wasamundi launched in 2012 is wasahostel.comThis is a simplified housing search service that permits house seekers find relevant and real-time information about vacancies in any locality of their choice. The service is Internet based (website and mobile site) and SMS based thus instantly available on any mobile phone. House owners make available information concerning vacancies and then wasaHOSTEL makes it searchable via SMS and internet.

The last of services is wasa.me: This A link shortener used for shortening links for use in any social site.

What’s Up!

We are on a mission to take Cameroon’s businesses online and help grow small businesses in our communities. Our neighbourhoods are getting bigger, everybody is searching for something. Therefore the need for every local business to expand the reach a little bit. We just want to help people find them easily. A Community Manager campaign was launched in Buea.
A community manager is charged with meeting with business owners and sensitizing them about the benefits of taking their businesses online. He will also be taking them through the process of doing it which is fast easy and free. He will also meet with local consumers, talk to them about finding what they want online and helping others make good decisions by providing their reviews. He will visit businesses, consume their products then write reviews about his experience and invite others to do same. Find attached the press release and handbill.

How clever is this! If you are a business owner do not hesitate to register your business now and start getting noticed! If you’ve been to an amazing restaurant why not drop a review on Wasamundi so we’ll follow suit!

Thanks for contacting me with this brilliant idea guys! The site is amazing. I litelrally typed in ‘Achu soup’ in the search bar and I was amazed at the results. And I have more ‘hot spots’ that I never knew existed in Limbe. Hmmmmm.

Wasamundi works for any and everybody.

Are you looking for a hostel? Are you a designer, barber, shoe mender, hairdresser, landlord, beautician; whatever you are, this is where you want your business to be.

Wasamundi is the ULTIMATE guide in Cameroon.

Lupita Nyongo’o is sporting curls! The new face of Lancome, looked the part in a Spring-perfect Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture floral embroidered flare dress. The blue flowers actually pop out of the fabric which adds to its beauty. Metallic Christian Louboutin pumps and girly pink lips finished off her look.

This girl has a TWA but is more versatile with her styling than I am. Fab! I am in love with this look.
